DIES Dialogue

Two women from different ethnicities in a dialogue

DIES events with the emphasis on the exchange of ideas (conferences, seminars, information visits, workshops, etc.) create fora for professional exchange on current topics in higher education management. Workshops, seminars as well as information and study visits enable exchange on best practice examples as well as preparation of joint action plans. Participants are given the opportunity to share information and are encouraged to develop specific reform measures for higher education management in developing countries.

Programme objectives

The target group of the dialogue events are political decision-makers in higher education, science, and research management, members of the university leadership staff, higher education managers of middle and upper leadership level, as well as national and international actors in development cooperation. Next to the exchange of expertise and good practices, it is the primary goal of this programme line to stimulate projects and initiatives on higher education reform in developing countries.

Since 2001 over 1,500 experts and decision-makers have been informed about current higher education policy issues through DIES- Dialogue events. This way they were able to make contacts, so as to initiate status-quo changing processes at their home institutions.
