Information for individuals

The DAAD is looking with great concern at Russia's belligerent attack on Ukraine. As a result of the war situation, the framework conditions for our individual funding have also changed.

Information for students and researchers from Germany

Due to the dangerous situation, applications for DAAD scholarships in Ukraine are currently not possible.

The DAAD has suspended the possibility for scientists and students from Germany to apply to scholarships to Russia. Scholarship commitments that have already been made will be withdrawn.
We will contact the persons concerned. If you have any questions, please contact your subject-specific department via the DAAD Portal.

Please always take heed of the German Foreign Office's travel and security guidelines (in German).

We would also like to point to the possibility to register at the crisis prevention list of the Foreign Office (for German citizenship holders only) .

Information for Ukrainian students and researchers IN GERMANY

The DAAD is appalled by Russia's attack on Ukraine and condemns it in the strongest possible terms. "The DAAD stands for peaceful and free exchange in the world of science and for a cross-border community of lecturers, researchers and students all over the world. This requires the worldwide regard of international law. Therefore, especially today, our solidarity is with the people and our partners in Ukraine," DAAD President Prof Dr Joybrato Mukherjee said on 24 February 2022.

We would like to profess our solidarity and sympathy to our Ukrainian scholarship holders in Germany. We share your concern for your relatives in Ukraine.

We are currently working, together with our member universities and sponsoring ministries, on new ways of structuring academic cooperation with Ukraine.

If you have any questions, please contact your DAAD department via the DAAD Portal.
