Annotation
The courses offered include classes on Historical Musicology (History of Music), Systematic Musicology (Music Psychology, Sociology, Acoustics) and Music and Media Technology. The degree course enables specialisation, including in the fields of Music and Media Technology, History of Music, Popular Music, Music Informatics or New Music and prepares students for modern professions in Musicology. Part of the course includes classes from other subjects in order to become acquainted with methods and content from other disciplines and to get to know them for your own focal interests. Placements provide preparation for entry into a profession.
The Master’s degree
opens up the opportunity to do a doctorate and, with the appropriate course planning/fulfilment of the relevant requirements, admission to any possible doctorate and therefore the path to an academic career.
The degree course
also qualifies students to work in a wide range of professional fields, including concert and cultural management, publishing, editing, musicological editing projects and the development of applications in the field of music technology.
Admission requirements
Bachelor's degree course or equivalent academic degree in Musicology or Music (Teaching Qualification) or a degree course in a closely related subject. This subject is suitable if it includes modules/courses in the amount of at least 30 credit points in the field of Musicology.
