Management
Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee began his term as president of the DAAD on 1 January 2020.
According to the charter of association, the President is responsible for representing the DAAD in all organisation-related matters. He serves as the chairperson of the Executive Committee, prepares its deliberations and resolutions, and ensures their implementation. He also chairs the meeting of the Board of Trustees and the General Assembly. His responsibilities include appointing the Secretary General following confirmation by the Executive Committee and supervising the management of the organisation.
Dr. Muriel Kim Helbig has served as vice president of the DAAD since 1 January 2020.
The Vice President represents the President, if prevented from carrying out his duties, by managing the bodies of the organisation, representing the organisation and in other matters entrusted to her by the President.
Secretary General
Dr. Kai Sicks is the new Secretary General of the DAAD from 1 April 2021.
The Secretary General is responsible for the administration of the DAAD. He implements resolutions passed by the bodies of the organisation and ensures compliance with requirements stipulated by the funding authorities in accordance with the rules of procedure.
