DAAD climapAfrica Postdoc Fellow
University of Pretoria
South Africa
Dr Ikechukwu Eugene Onah obtained MSc and PhD in Entomology in 2011 and 2015 respectively from the University of Nigeria. I have been actively engaged in teaching, research and community services within and outside the University of Nigeria since 2012. I was a Commonwealth Academic Fellow of University College London between 2017 – 2018. My research interest is on how climate change and elevation influence insect geographical distribution and population genetics.
Climate change expertise and interests
- Insect biodiversity and molecular ecology
- DNA barcoding, population genetics
- Modelling the effect of temperature on the distribution of insects

I participate at climapAfrica because...
It is an opportunity for researchers and academics in Africa to identify, investigate and contribute from the grassroot the effect of climate change in the continent. It offers the opportunity for in-depth mentoring and long-term collaboration with world class scientists and experts in climate change science.
