Target group

Graduates who have completed a relevant Bachelor’s degree course with an overall grade of at least 2.7 in Social Sciences or proof of a comparable professionally qualifying certificate of academic degree obtained in Germany or abroad. The Bachelor’s degree course or comparable certificate of academic degree must comprise at minimum 240 credit points (ECTS) or a degree course with a standard period of study of 8 semesters or 4 years. Applicants must proof that at least 10 credit points have been acquired in the area of social science methods, including at least 5 credit points in the area of quantitative methods and/or statistics.

Annotation

The Master’s in "Applied Methods of Social Research" provides you with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in social science research methods over two semesters. You learn to carry out research projects independently. The clear practical focus prepares you specifically for professions that require a high level of methodological and analytical understanding. The programme is aimed at you if you have already acquired basic knowledge of descriptive and inference statistics during your Bachelor’s degree. You should also have experience in areas such as operationalisation, measurement, research designs and the application of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.
