In the Bachelor’s degree course in Romance Studies, you will acquire in-depth skills in linguistics, cultural studies and literary studies as well as your chosen Romance languages – Spanish, French and/or Portuguese. You will also get a comprehensive insight into the history, structure and distribution of these languages.

The degree programme aims to adapt proven content, structures and language and practical courses to future-oriented knowledge and skills requirements. In addition to the thematic focus areas of literature, culture and language, the programme is rounded out by the field of Intercultural Communication. In addition, a work placement is included, which can be completed in Germany or abroad. There is also the option of completing practical language modules with a UNIcert® examination.

Before enrolling, depending on the major chosen, language proficiency in Spanish or French must be demonstrated as an admission requirement:

a) by means of a language certificate, level CEFR A2,
b) by passing a Spanish or French examination at a university that verifiably certifies proficiency at level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and is no older than two years,
c) other appropriate proof of Spanish or French proficiency at level CEFR A2.
