Notes on the degree programme: The eight-semester course in Sustainable Design B.A. considers and communicates design in the context of the ecological, economic, social and cultural challenges and potentials of our time. It is aimed at all those who want to help shape a sustainable future worth living in through creative ideas, designs and concepts. On the one hand, the course of study conveys knowledge, skills and competences in design focal points of your choice - e.g. in communication design, product design, illustration, animation design and photography. On the other hand, however, the programme also sheds light on the complex dimensions of sustainability and considers how design and sustainability interact with each other. Semester projects, selected by students from a wide range of courses, practice the complete design process from the task at hand to the presentation of the finished concepts. Many of these projects are carried out in collaboration with renowned cooperation partners and thus offer valuable practical experience as well as important contacts for the professional future. Modules with subjects such as design theory, cultural studies and philosophy provide complementary skills such as the ability to reflect, judge and the indispensable ability to think in complex contexts. Thanks to their special focus on sustainability, graduates of this unique study programme in Germany have a unique selling point on the labour market which is currently rapidly gaining in relevance.
