People in the spotlight A central task of social work is to promote social justice through social participation and equal opportunities, as well as to help support individuals and communities in overcoming social challenges. In the Social Work degree course, you will acquire skills to work with individuals, groups and the community to enable social, economic and political participation and to support sustainable development. The Bachelor’s degree course has been located on the Reutlingen campus since 2018. In the summer semester 2025, it was integrated into the NXT Faculty of Sustainability and Technology with more than 100 students. This change offers students the basis for a forward-looking education in an interdisciplinary environment through close integration with social and technological developments. Admission requirements
Key content areas: The Bachelor’s degree programme in Social Work qualifies students for professional roles in the field of social work. The course provides students with sound knowledge and practical skills in scientific fundamentals, methods and relevant theories. It opens the door to a varied profession in which students’ personalities are in demand and which offers numerous career opportunities in different fields of work. The areas of knowledge and practice taught in the course include: History, Theory and Practice of Social Work Social and Human Science Principles of Social Work Legal, Political and Economic Framework Methods and Concepts, Including Aesthetic Practices Project work and practical study semester Ethical issues in Social Work
