Annotation

Getting people moving (again) – with maximum performance in rehabilitation and training. The Master's degree programme in Sports Physiotherapy for Team and Individual Sports (MSc) combines physiotherapeutic and sports science know-how and offers an interdisciplinary degree course with high practical relevance. Maintaining the health of the population through sporting activity is increasingly raising social and political awareness. As a key discipline between physiotherapy and sports science, sports physiotherapy contributes to the promotion of a safe, active lifestyle – especially in grassroots and competitive sports. In recent years, sports physiotherapy has established itself as a separate discipline and field of activity through ongoing research and the professionalization of the structures in top sports, and highly specialised personnel is necessary to provide adequate and holistic care for athletes in collaboration with other professions. After graduating as a sports physiotherapist, you will be able to analyse on a stress-specific basis, to work preventively, to provide first aid, to plan and carry out rehabilitation measures as well as to work towards optimising performance. The main area of employment is competitive sports – where the pressure to perform and the stress are so high that the risk of injury can be heightened. But sports physiotherapists are also used in grassroots and leisure and recreational sports, in rehabilitation as well as in counselling. The degree course is aimed at people with a general higher education entrance qualification who have completed their professional training as physiotherapists and have a relevant Bachelor's degree in the field of Physiotherapy, Sports Science or similar and would like to obtain a further qualification. Fields of application - Top sports associations, Olympic and competitive sports bases - Rehabilitation facilities - Sports institutions, associations and clubs - (Own) physiotherapy practices - Hospitals - Training and continuing education institutions - Higher education institutions
