Rent deposit
Before signing the letting agreement the prospective tenant has to pay a security deposit. The deposit is 1.5 to 2 times the monthly rent and not interest bearing.
Duration of housing
In order to give as many students as possible a chance to rent inexpensively, rental periods in Studierendenwerk dorms are limited to six semesters. An extension can only be considered in exceptional cases.
