• Standard application procedure

  Application requirements
  Every officially enrolled student of the
  - University of Duisburg-Essen
  - Folkwang University of Arts, or
  - Hochschule Ruhr-West is eligible to live in a student residence.
  
  As a student of another university you can still apply for a room in the student residences but you should expect that your application will be subordinated to applications of our students.

  Application deadline
  There is no application deadline. Applications can be submitted at any time after successful enrolment or upon receipt of the letter of admission. Applications are processed in the order they are received. Early applications increase the chance of securing a place in a hall of residence

  Application
  The application is made online. First, registration with the Studierendenwerk and application for a city are required. As soon as a suitable room becomes available, the Studierendenwerk will send a room offer and a personal authentication code via email. Authentication is completed by uploading a passport or ID in the online portal and accepting the room offer by transferring a reservation fee. This fee will be credited as a deposit at the beginning of the rental period.

• Programme and exchange students

  A contingent of rooms is reserved each semester for exchange students. However, this does not guarantee you a room and it might not be possible for the Studierendenwerk to allocate your preferred room type or location.
  Further information about how and when to apply for student residences will be provided when admission letters are sent.
