Rent deposit
The deposit for standard rentals is 400 EUR and is payable with the first rent payment. For short-term rentals with a stay of 10-12 months, no deposit is required. However, a short-term tenant surcharge of 30 EUR per month is applied.
Duration of housing
The tenancy agreements are concluded for a period of one semester until the maximum period of residence of three years is reached. The three-year time limit is intended to enable as many students as possible to find a favourable place in a hall of residence (rotation principle).
An extension for one year beyond the maximum period of residence of three years can only be granted to those who:
- have registered for the final part of an examination procedure at their university at the time the contract expires,
- has been constructively involved in the administration of a student hall of residence (e.g. tutor) during the term of the tenancy
- would be unreasonably burdened by the move and can prove this (e.g. acute illness, but not financial reasons or housing shortage in the city)
