Overview
The building originally constructed at the turn of the century and used by the finance authority after the war, was converted to student accommodation with 55 residential units in 1981. 46 single rooms, eight double apartments and one single apartment are available. An adequate number of sanitary facilities is provided.
It takes a ten-minute walk to the Juridicum or the main building of the university from the Südstadt quarter in which the student housing complex "Bismarckstraße" is located. The journey is even faster by tram.

Rent deposit
Tenants are required to pay a deposit before conclusion of the agreement. This always amounts to one-and-a-half to two monthly rents. The deposit is not subject to payment of interest (in compliance with Section 551 (3) of the German Civil Code (§ 551 Abs. 3 BGB)).
Duration of housing
In order to give as many students as possible a chance to rent inexpensively, rental periods in Studierendenwerk dorms are limited to six semesters. An extension can only be considered in exceptional cases.
