Climate change is one of the most important threats to agricultural livelihoods for many people in Africa. Over the past decade, the number of studies on climate change adaptation in the agricultural sector has increased rapidly. Yet, many of these studies remain purely academic and miss the links to society, policy and practice. To contribute to actionable science and work to bridge the gap between climate change research, policy and practice, we initiate a joint postdoc-alumni working group “Climate change and agriculture and rural development” under the umbrella of the Climate research alumni and postdocs in Africa (climap Africa) programme.
The mission of this working group is to “share and discuss the research of the postdoctoral fellows and alumni to foster intra-Africa collaboration, build capacity, and forge actionable transdisciplinary linkages, by means of various outreach activities based around agricultural development in Africa.”
