Special features regarding the library

Locations: A central library and 3 departmental libraries. In addition, an information centre for technology and patents, the university archive of the TU Dortmund and a “catalogue plus” with a virtual system.; Stock: The library has almost 1.76 million media of its own. Around 97,000 e-books and 42,333 e-journals licensed by the library are also available on campus.; Services: The central library is open seven days a week. From Monday to Friday users can study and research here from 7am to 1am. On Saturdays and Sundays, the central library opens from 9am to 1am. This means that the university library is open 122 hours a week. It is closed on public holidays. The Emil Figge Library, the largest departmental library of the university library, is also open on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.

There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Turkish, Arabic, Dutch, German Sign Language, Kurdish.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Dortmund students may participate in the university sports programme of other selected universities. Participation is subject to fees. About 75 types of sports and fitness studio directly on campus. Most of the sports programme can be used an no additional cost after obtaining the sports card (from €15/semester); Each year, several sports events such as the campus run with over 1,600 runners or the football campus league. Since 2018, there has been a completely redeveloped outdoor area with artificial grass, beach volleyball and soccer boxes. The new outdoor fitness station "TUrnpunkt" is in the middle of the campus and is freely accessible.
