Special features regarding teaching

Excellently equipped laboratories, which are used for both research and teaching. As early as winter semester 2011/12, as part of a collaboration with the Robert Bosch Centre for Power Electronics, a corresponding specialisation introduced in the Master’s degree programme ETIT. The department also enjoys a very distinctive internationality due to the two very popular INFOTECH and Electrical Engineering M.Sc. programmes in English.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The department benefits from a very distinctive internationality due to the very popular English-language M.Sc. degree programmes INFOTECH and Electrical Engineering. The department's institutes have extensive links to research institutes in Europe and worldwide. The department's students have the opportunity to participate in many international projects. A new coordinator for degree programmes for international students supports our students with extensive information material and competent guidance.

Special features regarding the equipment

Excellent facilities, including four (!) cleanroom areas for micro- and optoelectr. Research (SiGe heterostructures, photovoltaics, display technology, nanotechnology), a high-voltage laboratory, vehicle electronics laboratories, HF antenna measuring room, several specialist laboratories for digital video technology, network technology, drive and control technology, digital signal processing, optical communications technology, acoustics laboratory, machine hall. New construction of a Power Electronics lab as part of a collaboration with the Robert Bosch Centre for Power Electronics in 2013.

Special features regarding research activities

The departmental institute is traditionally strongly research-oriented and covers the entire breadth of areas in Electrical and Information Technology From 2013, research collaboration with the Robert Bosch Center for Power Electronics as part of a new professorship financed by Bosch and the State of Baden-Württemberg Sustainable technologies in Energy Supply and Electromobility are the focus of research at several institutes. The new interdisciplinary Master’s degree course in Autonomous Systems benefits from the immediate spatial proximity to the ‘Arena 2036’ research campus.

The Technology Transfer Initiative (TTI) of the University of Stuttgart supports the transfer of scientific research results into economically successful products and services in all phases on your way to entrepreneurial independence. Due to the extensive industrial experience of all professors at the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology department, relevant first-hand advice for doctoral students on questions of technology transfer is available.
