Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The Department of Architecture offers a variety of specialisations in the field of design and construction planning, a broad range of programmes in artistic, creative and theoretical fields, and an excellent computer-based education. The extensive and varied mandatory elective options allow students to combine the compulsory modules with courses in their individual fields of interest.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Mentoring system with the development of an individual learning biography in the Master's degree course. In addition to registration in the architects' register, students have the opportunity to obtain the qualifications required for the city planners' register (usually through additional studies/extension of the duration of studies).

Special features regarding the international orientation

The International Relations office of the faculty is set up to provide individual advice and support to students (incoming and outgoing), doctoral students and teachers and offers professional support to operate internationally. EU notification of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programme for automatic professional recognition as architects within Europe. One to two BIPs per academic year in different teaching areas are the norm, active participation in the European higher education network EULIST https://www.uni-hannover.de/de/universitaet/internationales/eulist/

Special features regarding the equipment

Plotting service, laser cutter, cutting plotter, several 3D printers, 2 photo studios, woodworking/modelling workshop, metalworking shop, printing technology workshop, ceramic workshop, computer clusters and laboratory for augmented and virtual reality. Software in the computer clusters includes: Microsoft Office, Adobe, AutoCAD, Allplan, Rhino, Vray, QGIS, Revit, Vectorworks, Cinema 4D, 3DSmax, ORCA AVA.

The research profile of the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape at Leibniz Universität Hannover is particularly characterized by sustainable, form-based research (creative basic research). Points of research focus: AI and Data-Driven Design for Architecture and Environments, Sustainable, Liveable, and Inclusive Cities, Design Research in Architecture, Landscape, Design, Climate Adaptation, Ecosystem Services and Bio. The Faculty of Architecture and Landscape therefore offers diverse opportunities for research in engineering and natural sciences as well as in design.
