Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Professional relevance: The study offer gives a comprehensive insight into education and training at various ages (from early childhood to old age) and various educational institutions (day-care centres, schools, socio-educational institutions, continuing education, adult education). It features a strong link between theory and practice. Research orientation: The degree course provides an in-depth introduction to quantitative and qualitative research.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Master's degree programmes in Adult Education/Continuing Education and Education and Teaching Science have a strong research focus with a qualitative and quantitative empirical orientation in the main areas of content. There is also a high degree of professional relevance, especially at the conceptual level. The Master's degree course in Empirical Educational Research has the strongest connection to research, in particular with a quantitative and empirical focus and a strong interdisciplinary character.

Special features regarding the international orientation

With the International Office, the University of Bamberg has a broad network of partner universities in other European and non-European countries. As part of the Erasmus+ programme, for example, Educational Science students can study abroad for one semester. When the degree courses were designed, mobility windows were included to allow for such semesters abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

The department has all necessary PC laboratories, WiFi, projectors, smart boards, etc. The university library offers access to all relevant subject-specific databases.

Special features regarding research activities

In recent years, the research-strong faculty has been able to acquire extensive joint projects and numerous individual projects. Educational research is part of the University of Bamberg's research focus on empirical social research on education and work. in addition, there are close research ties to the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LifBi). The degree course takes place in a research-oriented environment.

With its professorship in Educational Science with a focus on Education for Sustainable Development, the corresponding specialisation in the Bachelor's degree in Education and the Education Certificate in Sustainable Development, the University of Bamberg is a pioneer in this important field. The university is integrated in the historic old town of Bamberg, a World Heritage Site, and offers an attractive urban environment and an intensive student life. In recent years, numerous student residences at the University of Bamberg have been renovated or newly built.
