Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

A variety of teaching methods such as lectures, exercises, practicals, laboratories, simulation games and supervised project work are used in the degree courses to enable students to acquire skills in a wide variety of ways. Teaching is also strongly research-oriented. Numerous research activities and different types of courses organised jointly with partners from industry ensure practice-oriented training. UA Ruhr students can also attend courses at the Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Special features regarding the equipment

Students at the mechanical engineering faculty have access to several hundred workplaces around the campus. The mechanical engineering faculty also has a variety of software and hardware tools, including many production machines, test benches and measuring instruments. Students can also carry out their own patent searches free of charge.

Close cooperation with the following institutions: Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics; Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering, Institute of Robot Research at TU Dortmund, RIF Institute of Research and Transfer, Leibniz Institute of Working Research at TU Dortmund; Several Collaborative Research Centres and Transregios, including on topics such as blockchain and digital ecosystems
