Target group
The target group of the Master's degree course are graduates from the Bachelor's degree courses: -Electrical engineering / information technology with a focus on automation technology -Environmentally friendly building systems technology -Regenerative energy technology -Electrical energy technology -Applied computer science and mechanical engineering as well as related bachelor's degree courses. As part of the Bachelor's degrees mentioned above, the applicant must have proof of a grade average of 2.5 or better as well as 210 ECTS points. Art. 4 Admission to the Master's degree (1) Pursuant to Art. 49 Paragraph 5 of the HSG, admission to the consecutive Master's degree course is granted to students who have earned the degree of "Bachelor of Science" or "Bachelor of Engineering" at a university of applied sciences, university or equivalent institution of higher education within the scope of the German Higher Education Act (Hochschulrahmengesetz) in a field of study related to electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, process engineering, building systems engineering or a related technical field of study in a Bachelor's degree course of at least seven semesters (210 credit points). For graduates who have not completed a degree course in electrical engineering and information technology, the selection committee (Art. 4 Paragraph 9) must also determine the content orientation of the first degree course in the sense of an orientation towards the content of the master's degree course. At least 24 credits are required in the field of automation technology (e.g. control engineering, measurement technology, computer science, ...). Applicants who cannot provide evidence of sufficient basic training in automation technology may be admitted on condition that they complete additional examinations worth up to 24 credit points as part of the Master's degree by the time they register for the Master's thesis at the latest. The selection committee (Art. 4 paragraph 9) determines which modules are to be used to prove the credit points. The extent of the additional work to be done should not lead to an extension of the degree course by more than one semester. (2) Applicants who, as a prerequisite, have obtained a "Bachelor of Science" or a "Bachelor of Engineering" degree in a subject from the field of electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, process engineering or building systems engineering on the basis of a six-semester Bachelor's degree course (180 credit points) and whose Bachelor's degree course did not previously include a practical semester, may be admitted if they can provide evidence of a professional activity as "Bachelor of Science" or "Bachelor of Engineering" of at least 6 months or a practical semester credited with 30 credit points after completion of their Bachelor's degree. In all other cases, the applicants can be admitted with the condition that they complete additional examinations of up to 30 credit points within the framework of the Master's degree from the Bachelor's area in the Faculty of Technology at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences at the latest by the time of registration of the Master's thesis. The selection committee according to Art. 4 paragraph 9 determines how the missing credit points are to be proven. The extent of the additional work to be done should not lead to an extension of the degree course by more than one semester. (3) Admission to the consecutive Master's degree is open to students who have obtained the degree of Diplom-Ingenieurin or Diplom-Ingenieur from a university of applied sciences or equivalent institution of higher education within the scope of the German Higher Education Framework Act (Hochschulrahmengesetz) in a subject from the field of electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, process engineering or building systems engineering. (4) Sections 1 and 2 apply correspondingly to graduates from international universities with degrees recognised as equivalent. If the applicant does not have a German-language first degree, which is the admission qualification for the Master's degree, proof of German language qualification (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR) must be submitted together with the application documents. (5) For admission to the Master's degree course in Automation Technology, the applicant must submit the following documents as proof of special aptitude: a) Proof of a first professional degree of at least seven semesters in a subject from the field of electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, process engineering, building systems engineering or an equivalent degree. b) Proof of sufficient German language skills in the case of foreign students. Language skills must be proven in accordance with the German language qualification (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR). c) A written description of your personal and professional career, including any further education and training you have undertaken to date, together with the relevant documents, in particular employer's references. (6) In deviation from Art. 4 Paragraph 1, Art. 4 Paragraph 2 and Art. 4 Paragraph 3, admission to the Master's degree course may also be applied for if the first professional qualification has not yet been obtained due to a Bachelor's thesis that has not yet been completed and, on the basis of the degree course to date, in particular the examination results to date, it is to be expected that the degree will be obtained by the beginning of the lectures of the Master's degree course. A certificate from the university at which the degree course is to be completed must be submitted stating the credit points already earned. Admission to the degree course is cancelled retrospectively if proof of graduation is not provided by the last day of the first semester. (7) The selection committee shall decide on the equivalence of degrees at the request of the applicants (Art. 4 paragraph 9). (8) A decision may only be taken if all the documents proving the requirements have been submitted in full. (9) The selection committee consists of the following members: a. the head of the Master's degree course in Automation Technology b. the chairperson of the examination board or his/her deputy c. furthermore, as an advisory member, an employee of the office responsible for application and student affairs. The selection committee has a quorum if at least two members with voting rights are present. (10) The selection committee decides on the following issues: a. the existence of equivalence (Art. 4 paragraph 5), b. the existence of equivalent language performance in German (Art. 4 paragraph 4), c. in the case of Art. 4 paragraph 1 and Art. 4 paragraph 2, on the credit points to be made up.
