Acquire knowledge about the origin, appearance, function and effect of works from late antiquity to the contemporary art of Europe and (from the 16th Century) of America and deepen your knowledge in selected case studies. Deal with painting, sculptures, architecture, graphics, the arts and crafts or the intermedia manifestations of modern and current art movements. You will not only learn fundamental methods for analysing works of art, but also for imparting them. During excursions and exercises before originals, try out the possible applications of your acquired skills and use vocational preparation seminars to prepare you for a possible career start after graduation. An integral part of the degree course is the MarSkills programme, in which you acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills (see https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/fb09/igs/arbeitsgruppen/sprechwissenschaft/marskills/was-ist-marskills).
