Annotation
Working with movement and dance in clinical, social, educational and therapeutic fields of work. The Dance Therapy course teaches dance therapy methods for the accompaniment of individual and social development and change processes. Dance therapy makes use of the high therapeutic potential of dance and movement, body perception and artistic expression close to the body. It reaches deep and early layers of human experience through its basic non-verbal experience, expression, interaction and communication. In this way it can reach clients and patients in their experience and invite them into processes of change for whom verbal processing and working through their experiences and concerns is not or not yet suitable. In an exercise-centred setting, dance therapy can promote the creativity, spontaneity, movement competence and authenticity of the clients, strengthen their self-esteem and self-acceptance and improve their social skills. Students are prepared for artistic-therapeutic work in clinical, social, educational and therapeutic fields of work.
