Annotation
The new, approbation-compliant Master's degree programme "Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy" (MSc) prepares students for autonomous, independent and comprehensive work in psychotherapeutic care in accordance with the provisions of the Psychotherapists Act (§ 7 PsychThG) and takes particular aspects of patient safety into account along with the concerns of people of all age groups, including the concerns of people with disabilities. The Master´s degree programme conveys the necessary knowledge and personal, technical-methodical, social and implementation-oriented skills at currently recognised level of Psychotherapy Studies along with neighbouring scientific disciplines. At the same time, it enables students to contribute to the further development of psychotherapeutic procedures, and to continue their education independently and on their own, while also developing organisational and leadership skills. To this end, the Master´s degree programme includes all content that is included in the German Medical Practice Regulations for Psychotherapists (PsychTh-ApprO) of 04 March 2020 (Federal Law Gazette 2020, Part 1 No. 11, 448-483) as a prerequisite to admission to the state licensure examination in the Master's degree programme. In addition, the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane has set its own areas of focus. For example, it is distinguished by the fact that it has a professorship in Clinical Psychology in fields covered by each of the three directives: Psychoanalysis, Behavioural Therapy and Systemic Psychotherapy. The three methods are thus equally represented in teaching. Through this combination of theory and application, which is unique in Germany, the Master’s in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy offers a course that is geared to practice, patients and subsequent profession like no other. It is difficult to think of a course that could be more relevant in terms of practice and patient contact.
