Annotation
The Master's degree course in Literary Studies: Aesthetics – Literature – Philosophy deals with the analysis of the complex interplay of rhetorical, aesthetic, media and material practices. The aim is to convey aesthetics, literature and philosophy in terms of cultural theory. European literatures and philosophies are explored in their reception and interaction context. Literature is not understood as the sum of individual national literatures, but as an object with transcultural dimensions. The Master's degree in Literary Studies is characterised by multi-perspective approaches. Undertaking Literary Studies in a general and comparative way means proceeding supranationally, comparatively, intermedially and critically and therefore also questioning concepts such as identity and territory. The basic features of the degree course are the emphasis on the methodical role of literature for cultural studies in its intradisciplinary literature, art and philosophy-historical provisions as well as the interdisciplinary exploration of the knowledge and media-historical framework conditions of aesthetics, literature and philosophy. The theoretical practice taught by the degree course is research-oriented in its application and provides the basis for further postgraduate studies or other highly qualified academic professional practices, particularly in the fields of publishing, media and cultural institutions.
