Annotation

With the Master's degree programme in Art History at the Philipps University of Marburg, you are opting for a four-semester course of study that offers you a specialisation according to your study and research interests through a wide selection of course topics. Courses are offered not only by teachers at the institute, but also by lecturers from various relevant professional fields (monument conservation, museum, art market, etc.), so that you have the opportunity to develop career-relevant orientations and make contacts already during your studies. In the project module you will design exhibitions, access research libraries or work on the digitisation of museum databases. On an excursion lasting several days, you will study works in a small group of students in the original, in art centres such as Rome, Paris, Venice, Antwerp or Vienna. The research-oriented and exclusive advanced seminars for Master students offer you the opportunity to deal intensively and under individual supervision with current topics in art history. In two colloquia, you will have the opportunity to present your own research ideas and projects and to discuss them in a stimulating academic environment, in order to elaborate them in your Master's thesis as a more comprehensive and independent research project.
