Target group

The course is aimed at students with a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree in one of the disciplines involved in the interdisciplinary course of study: Sociology, History, Linguistics, Educational Science, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Law or Religious Studies as well as European Studies, Comparative Cultural Studies and Ethology or a comparable subject.

Annotation

The Master's course is characterised by its inter-disciplinary character due to the involvement of the disciplines of Sociology, History, Linguistics, Educational Science, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Law and Religious Studies and is fundamentally relevant for graduates of a Bachelor's degree course covering this and related subjects.The focus of the course of study, which is comprised of six modules, is on the teaching of scientific and practical skills in the fields of migration and integration in history and the present day, inter-cultural and inter-ethnic relations and socio-spatial development and multilingualism. Components are a work placement of at least four weeks, a one-day excursion as well as a research discussion group. Stays abroad are possible as part of various exchange programmes due to the existing cooperations with universities in Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Spain and Switzerland, amongst others.The Master's degree opens up the opportunity to do a doctorate and, with the appropriate course planning/fulfilment of the relevant requirements, admission to any possible doctorate\; at the Universität Osnabrück therefore admission to the PhD programme in Migration Research and Intercultural Studies.The degree qualifies students for a broad range of employment, e.g. in political organisations, in national and international charities, human rights and aid organisations, foundations, companies, trade unions.

Admission requirements

Bachelor's or equivalent degree in one of the course-related disciplines of Sociology, History, Linguistics, Education, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Law and Religious Studies as well as in European Studies, Ethnology or Comparative Cultural Studies. Applicants must also provide proof of a command of English at language level B1 and demonstrate their aptitude and motivation in accordance with the admission regulations.
