• Standard application procedure

  Application requirements
  Students who are officially registered at the:
  - Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster
  - University of Applied Sciences of Münster
  - Catholic University of Applied Sciences – ‘katho’
  - Münster Academy of Fine Arts
  - Faculty of Music of the Westphalian Wilhelm's University of Münster
  or
  - Participants registered at a language course offered by the University of Münster

  Application deadline
  An application can be made without submitting any university entrance admission slip or registration certificate. However, when you sign the lease agreement you will be asked to present a copy of either the registration certificate/semester enrolment slip or the university or college admission slip.
  Apartments, rooms and flats can be applied for and rented at any time throughout the year. An application is free of charge and non binding.

• Exchange students

  Exchange students can apply for a room in a student hall of residence operated by the Studierendenwerk Münster (Student Support Services). The online application form can be found here.
  
  Please note: Due to a limited number of rooms, you should apply as soon as possible!
  
  How to apply:
  - After logging on to the Studierendenwerk Münster website, you can apply for a room online by selecting "Online-Bewerbung" under the heading "Studentisches Wohnen".
  - Fill in all of the required fields. Within the menu item "application for admission" choose "exchange" as faculty.
  - Please exclusively choose "single room furnished" (including single room plus shared bathroom/kitchen). The number of all other options is restricted, and reserved for long-term students.
  - In order to participate in the Welcome Week events for new students, we recommend entering 1 March (summer semester) or 1 September (winter semester) as your "desired date of moving in". This also increases your chances of receiving a room.
  - When calculating how long you plan to live in Münster, keep in mind that examinations are often administered up to four weeks after the end of lectures.
  - After submitting your online application, every 30 days, you will receive an e-mail from the Studierendenwerk asking you to confirm your place on the waiting list. This shows them that you are still interested in receiving a room in a student hall of residence.

• Additional information

  Applications from disabled students holding a disabled person’s ID will be given priority. A copy of the disabled person’s ID should be attached to the application.
  
  Students with one or more children may apply for accommodation in the student residence at, Gescherweg 50-64, 48161 Münster as follows:
  
  - a two-room flat = single parent with one or more children
  - a three-room flat = couple (both must be students) with one or more children.
  
  Students with children are given priority over groups without children intending to share a flat, while all applications from students with children are processed according to the order in which they are received. A copy of the child’s birth certificate should be attached to the application. In the case of pregnancy a doctor’s certificate verifying the pregnancy should be attached.
