Anna Lisa Ahlers

Anna Lisa Ahlers heads sub-project A of WiWiKo-China at the MPIWG in Berlin. Since 2020, she has been building up the independent research group ‘China in the Global System of Science’ there. She is also a part-time professor at the University of Oslo. A trained sinologist and political scientists, her research interests include the system of governance and the structures of policy implementation in the People's Republic of China (PRC), science policy and the relationship between science and the political regime in the PRC, dynamics of the global science system, and the comparative analysis of forms of political authoritarianism in the 21st century. 

 

Anna Katharina Strob

Anna Strob is the scientific project coordinator of WiWiKo-China. Before joining the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Anna worked as a research associate at the Chair of History and Culture of Pre-Modern China at the University of Tübingen. In her dissertation, she examined the transfer of science and technology from Europe to China during the period of early globalisation.

 

Sakine Weikert

Project Leader, Sub-Project B: Knowledge & Transfer

Sakine Weikert heads the sub-project B of ‘WiWiKo-China’ in the DAAD. As head of section, she is responsible for the DAAD Centre for International Academic Cooperation (KIWi) at the DAAD. The KIWi supports German universities in designing cooperation projects strategically and responsibly on the basis of sound thematic and regional expertise, including individual consultations, exchange programmes on topics such as research security, publications or events such as the KIWi Policy Talks, where stakeholders from science and politics network on current foreign science policy issues.
From 2018 to 2022, she headed the DAAD Information Centre in Shanghai and worked as a lecturer in German studies at Fudan University. After studying Modern German Literature (HU Berlin) and Media and Communication Studies (FU Berlin), she worked in research and teaching at the Peter Szondi Institute for Comparative Literature at Freie Universität Berlin and was a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago and Princeton University.

 

Lena Jakoby

Project Coordinator

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

Lena Jakoby is the project coordinator for WiWiKo-China. Prior to this, she was responsible for research and study programmes in cooperation with partner organisations in the People's Republic of China in the Asia/Pacific scholarship department at the DAAD. Among other things, she supervised the CAS-DAAD programme and the Sino-German (CSC-DAAD) Postdoc Scholarship Program.
