Beschreibung

We have an open fully funded PhD position for 3 years with the possibility of extension.

The successful candidate will be part of a growing international team in the Institute of Biochemistry, group of Andreas Schlundt (Chair of Analytical Biochemistry) located at the University of Greifswald.

Greifswald is a small, beautiful, and affordable university city at the shores of the Baltic Sea in the North of Germany, approx. 2-3 hours from Berlin and Hamburg.

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible time point and remuneration is in accordance with salary grade 13 TV-L (65%, collective agreement of the federal states).

You will carry out work on a critical pre-mRNA splicing factor of the SRSF family using structural and biochemical analysis of protein-RNA and protein-inhibitor complexes relevant for the discrimination of canonical and alternative splicing decisions, and in concert with other SRSF splicing factors.
Our central methodologies are solution NMR, crystallography and SAXS, together with a broad method spectrum from biochemistry and biophysics (EMSA, ITC, FP, SPR, CD, aSEC). We will follow an interdisciplinary approach including collaborations for cell biology and transcriptomics/proteomics; especially the DFG Excellence Cluster ‘SCALE (SubCellular Architecture of LifE)’.

You will find an overview of the most recent research activities of the Schlundt lab here.

We are excellently embedded in a large research infrastructure and with the neighboring departments as well as one of Germany’s best university hospitals.
