Special features regarding the library

Locations: The university library is organised as a single-tier library and comprises a central library with over 370 learning and workspaces.; Stock: Literature and information services: 518,323 printed volumes, 30,241 electronic publications, 962 printed journals, 65,174 electronic journals.; Spending on electronic resources has more than doubled in the past 6 years.; Services: Teaching of media skills and information literacy via primarily electronic formats; Research support: a) Publication services: Document server, open access publishing, OA publication fund, assignment of persistent identifiers; b) Advice on research data management and research data storage; Administration of the central learning management system of the University of Hildesheim (Moodle); Participation in e-learning funding projects (including the federal/state initiative "Strengthening higher education through digitalisation") for the systematic development of a digital learning and teaching campus.

Foreign language center and courses

There is no foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Turkish, Arabic, Albanian, Danish, Finnish, Sign Language, Greek, Icelandic, Korean, Dutch, Czech. Since 2002/03, the University of Hildesheim, HAWK Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen (University of Applied Sciences and Art) and the Hildesheim Adult Education Centre (VHS) have jointly offered foreign language courses in the Hildesheim Language Forum. Students can complete an intensive language course abroad.

Special features regarding university sports

Students attending the institution can participate in the sports programme of the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts. All courses are offered centrally on the campus, except water sports (e.g. canoeing). Through its cooperation with the German Alpine Association, the university additionally owns an alpine and competition-approved climbing wall.
