Locations: University library; Science and Life Sciences branch library, Law and Economics branch library; Philosophy II branch library; Branch library in the “Zeughaus”; Specialised libraries; Stock: 3.7 million volumes; 1.5 million e-books; 69,000 e-journals; 2,000 printed journal subscriptions; Historic collections: 5,017 rare books; 2,799 manuscripts/autographs; 883 incunabula; 112 literary remains; Service: The University Library, its branch and specialist libraries are located close to the institute's campus, are partly open daily until late at night and support in every phase of study: They offer information on the library's own YouTube channel, personal advice, coffee lectures, workshops and tutorials from the start of studies to the thesis, various study spaces such as learning labs and 1,700 reading spaces and PC workstations. Study literature and specialist information for all subjects are continuously updated and are easily accessible.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Students of the JLU can participate in the sports programme of Philipps University Marburg and the THM (Technical University of Mittelhessen) thanks to a cooperation agreement in place. Participation is subject to fees. Through its varied and qualified sports programme, the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) aims to offer all students the opportunity to do sports and regular exercise as a balance to their predominantly sedentary study routine. The weekly course programme with a focus on health promotion features a wide range of sports and classes. It is supplemented by events, digital course formats and student health management programmes, such as on the topic of relaxation and stress.
