Locations: Central library system with 3 locations: Bielefeld campus university library with learning centre; University library Lampingstraße; Minden campus university library; Stock: Book stock: about 173,000; Approx. 380 printed journals; More than 18,000 e-journals plus e-journal platforms; Approx. 166,000 e-books plus national licences; Service: Expenditure on media in 2023: around EUR  639, 000. Bielefeld campus university library with learning centre and university library Lampingstrasse close to each respective faculties, open about 73 h / week. Around 440 workplaces, some with PCs and 3D printers; targeted orient. Training programme as well as further support offers and competence advice for scientific (digital) work, learning, research, publishing, possibly integrated into courses; ILIAS learning management system and other services for digital teaching and learning

Foreign language center and courses

There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Japanese. Students of Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (HSBI) can also participate in courses at the foreign language centre of Bielefeld University via guest access (https://www.uni-bielefeld.de/einrichtungen/fsz/languages/fh-students)

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The running group consists of students, employees, teachers & alumni of the various departments and institutions of Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences. In the summer semester, training will be held on Tuesdays from 5 pm to 6:15 pm, under sports science guidance, at Stadion Rußheide, Mühlenstraße 121 in Bielefeld. In winter, the group moves to different sports halls within Bielefeld. Recently, there has also been an HSBI football community (open training for all levels, Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm on the sports field of VfR Wellensiek, right next to the HSBI main building)
