Special features regarding the library

Services: The SuUB Bremen is in charge of the supply of literature and information for both the university and colleges. The self-developed search engine E-LIB provides access to over 110 million printed and digital resources. Through methodologically and didactically coordinated courses to promote information literacy and media skills, the library provides students with security in working with sources of all kinds. There is high demand for these learning locations. The changing demands on equipment are taken into account by modernizing the existing, and creating new learning spaces.

Foreign language center and courses

There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Turkish, Arabic, German Sign Language, Finnish, Hebrew, Korean, Kurdish, Dutch. Students may participate in the cross-university programme, which usually takes place at the University of Bremen, but sometimes also directly at Bremen University of Applied Sciences.

Special features regarding university sports

The university does not have its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. Cutter rowing at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences: Cutter rowing is a sport in which a cutter (a life boat from a large ship) is moved (rowed) a specified distance by a team of about 10 people plus a cox. The cutter rowers sit in pairs at the oars, the helmsman ensures the correct course and the motivation of the team. in 1986, the Nautical Science degree course organised the first international cutter rowing race on the Weser river. Bremen University of Applied Sciences has several student teams. Sports: There are some sports facilities at the University of Applied Sciences in Bremen that can be used by students and staff. Bremen University of Applied Sciences offers various sports programmes in cooperation with the University Sports Association.
