The university offers its own sports programme. Students attending the institution can participate in sports programmes of other Bavarian higher education institutions. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The programme is open to: Technische Hochschule Nürnberg (TH Nürnberg), neighbouring universities, others as guest students. The FAU has its own water sports centre on the large Lake Brombach in Pleinfeld offering a wide range of sailing courses (Uni Jolle, Kat) and other water sports in the summer. The University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) is an elite sports partner university of the General German University Sports Federation (adh). The programme is designed for popular sports. The range of activities is extremely diverse, with over 60 different types of sports/disciplines.
