Special features regarding teaching

The special focus on support in the field of Mathematics includes close supervision during the first semesters by means of a link programme as well as one-on-one support and support in small groups led by postdoctoral staff members. In the stage I studies, practical tutorials are offered in small groups led by student tutors. The group sizes are kept to a maximum of 30 participants. Training is provided for all tutors before the beginning of each semester. This includes subject-specific preparation for how to deal with students and groups, as well as conflict management.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Students can spend one semester studying abroad, where they can gain valuable and unique experiences. Prof. Axel Bangert is the foreign student advisor for the degree course in Electrical Engineering. You can also find further information about studying abroad on the website of the International Office

Special features regarding the equipment

Around 60 workstations (file server plus multiprocessor systems) are available in the department for use in project and dissertation work. There is also a large number of WiFi workstations for notebooks, plus high-performance graphics computers for 3D applications. Standard off-the-shelf mini robots available for applications and programming in the field of Mobile Autonomous Robotics.

Special features regarding research activities

SWP: Energy supply of the future; Efficient and autonomous vehicles; Crisis-proof technical and electronic systems, secure communications technology. Participation of the FGs in the Scientific Center for Information Technology Design ITeG, the Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology (CINSaT); Center for Environmental Systems Research (CESR); As well as at individual institutes: INA, ISAC, IAF, KDEE, FAST

Support for founders

no specific measures, participation in university-wide activities and projects

Other special features

Electrical Engineering courses collaborate with the BA/MA degree course in Computer Science in the department; STIP (studies in association with practical experience) for BA/MA degree courses (dual degree course). Electrical and information technology also cooperates with the ISE - Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Kassel. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that students of Electrical and Electronic Engineering have extensive opportunities to choose a specialism due to the focus of several institutes and chairs on Renewable Energies and Wind Power. The Vehicle System Technology/E-Mobility specialism is another feature.
