Special features regarding teaching

Comprehensive, high-quality and demanding basic training in Business Administration and Economics, later with the respective specialisation. Tutorials for all courses in the basic study stage (tutorials do not overlap) with an average of 20 participants. Teaching involves modern teaching and learning methods. Courses are supported by e-learning projects and platforms. Practice-oriented teaching through the targeted incorporation of practitioners/teaching assignments as well as optional degree programmes with vocational and academic elements.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The department offers two English-language Master's degree courses and has a wide range of English-language courses in advanced Bachelor's degrees. This encourages the vigorous exchange between German and international students as well as internationalism at home and prepares our outgoing students for their own semesters abroad. Incoming and outgoing students alike are supported and actively supervised by the internationalism team at the department. The local curricula explicitly favour the recognition of credits earned abroad.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Dublin Business School, Irland; James Cook University in Townsville, Australien; Leiden University, Niederlande; Marmara University, Türkei; Poznan University of Economics, Polen; Universitat de València, Spanien; University of Bergen, Norwegen; University of Economics in Prague, Tschechien; University of Umeå, Schweden; Università degli Studi di Trento, Italien.

Special features regarding the equipment

With the Innovative Learning Lab, the department has set up a seminar room, equipped with flexible furnishings and extensive presentation technology, enabling the use of creative, multimedia teaching/learning methods and concepts. Students have access to 4, partially air-conditioned, PC clusters with 115 workstations, equipped with various specialist software. Several smartboards.

Special features regarding research activities

Faculty members are integrated into the Research Centre for Information Technology Design and the International Centre for Higher Education Research.

Support for founders

The Kassel University is a founders' university subsidised by EXIST funds. Teaching and support of start-ups is seen as an interdisciplinary task and supported, both in personnel and organisational terms, by the research and teaching centre on entrepreneurial thinking and action. Six subject areas of the department are active in the start-up research and teaching.

Other special features

The department has established a joint guidance and coordination concept for all its degree courses. There are thus professional and established structures for academic guidance and course coordination, in order to ensure that the teaching programme runs smoothly. All consultation hours take place under optimal conditions in the specially set up Service Centre for teaching. In addition to subject-specific Internet platforms and Internet forums for individual degree courses, magazines with current information are also published regularly (e.g. 'Wiwi aktuell').
