Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering is a small faculty where students receive intensive supervision (e.g. learning groups) and where dedicated, highly trained professors and staff teach and work. There is a friendly atmosphere. The teaching is very practice-oriented, with a variety of excursions, lectures by teaching staff and presentations by guest lecturers. In the first semester, there is a compulsory course on study skills. The student advisor and course assistant are available for individual counselling.

There is a friendly atmosphere. The teaching is very practice-oriented, with a variety of excursions, lectures by teaching staff and presentations by guest lecturers. The student advisor and course assistant are available for individual counselling. Many of the modules are carried out as project-based studies in groups and teams.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Deggendorf Institute of Technology (THD) has partner universities around the world. Erasmus+ is a European scholarship programme that promotes and financially supports student mobility in Europe. NO tuition fees! The faculty has an International Officer who provides advice in addition to the team in the THD International Office. Collaboration with international universities; High proportion of international students in the faculty, especially in the Master's degree course (> 50%); Opportunity to participate in research projects in Budapest and Luxembourg included in the Master's curriculum

Special features regarding the equipment

The laboratories, with their excellent technical equipment, offer the basis for up-to-date, practically oriented Engineering training. Modern technology that meets industry standards makes it possible to reinforce the knowledge acquired in lectures in all phases of the degree course. In addition, the laboratories serve as the basis for many research and development projects, thus offering the students many opportunities for Bachelor's and Master's projects. Laboratories for: Building chemistry, environmental analysis, computer science, building materials, foundation engineering, surveying, water management, hydraulic engineering.

Other special features

The faculty offers solid, practice-oriented training in the basic engineering disciplines of civil and environmental engineering and guarantees very good employment opportunities in the labour market for graduates. There is a pleasant, friendly and open atmosphere in our small faculty with approx. 500 students. The proportion of women on our degree courses is about 25% to 30%. The topic of sustainability is of great importance to the faculty and the degree courses, and is therefore firmly integrated into the curricula (including the advanced module).
