Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The unique structure of the degree programme, with a choice of different lengths of study, allows students to make important decisions about their profile, including a broad range of compulsory elective courses. The Cottbus model means that Civil Engineering is strongly interlinked with Architecture and Town and Regional Planning. Through joint project study, the students are introduced to the future cooperation partners in the construction sector.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Master's curriculum offers maximum flexibility in the selection of course content and can be extended beyond civil engineering to include related disciplines or the entire range of modules offered by the university.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The degree course offers a large number of cooperation partners for a stay abroad and international exchange.

Special features regarding the equipment

The intensive exchange between the faculty and the academic institution Materials Testing Institute University of Stuttgart (MPA Stuttgart, Otto-Graf-Institut (FMPA)) in the context of research projects means that the faculty has extensive equipment in the field of Civil Engineering. In addition, the faculty has a wide range of research technology, with the research laboratories in the field of Construction Materials and with the cooperation with other faculty institutes (Panta Rhei gGmbH research centre for lightweight construction materials).

Special features regarding research activities

Points of research focus: Digital design and planning processes, modelling and production, cultural heritage and climate-friendly construction. Young academics pursue their doctorates with traditional individual supervision.
