Special features regarding the international orientation

The department offers a double degree programme with the University of Rhode Island, where students can simultaneously earn the German and the American Master's degree programmes. In addition, the department collaborates with many international partner universities where students can complete a semester abroad as part of exchange programmes such as Erasmus+. International student research projects and final theses are also possible. In addition, the degree course CSE, which is taught in English, is offered. Other services: Buddy programme for guest students, information days about semesters abroad

Special features regarding the equipment

The department has a large number of laboratories, workshops and experimental facilities at a high scientific level. Examples include the hydraulic building hall of the LWI, the 3D concrete printing system, the resonance pulser of the Institute for Steel Construction, the testing facilities of the Institute for Building Materials, Solid Construction and Fire Protection and the maintenance laboratory of the Institute for Roads. A parallel cluster is available for modelling. The facilities also include a railway operation simulator. Almost every institute has testing areas with technical equipment.

Special features regarding research activities

Many of the department's institutes are active in the university's key areas of research – "City of the future" and "Mobility". The ZeBra (Centre for Fire Research) and the Zeluba (Centre for Light and Environmentally Friendly Structures) offer excellent infrastructure as well as modern test facilities. In the Coastal Research Centre, coastal research is carried out in a saltwater wave flow channel that is unique in Europe. In addition, the department is home to the EU-funded research project "Digital Construction Site" and the Collaborative Research Centre "Additive Manufacturing in Construction".

Other special features

Diversity and equal opportunities are put front and centre at TU Braunschweig. The Diversity Coordination Office offers advice, workshops and networking. The Advisory Council on Diversity, Family and Equality awards faculty scholarships. The Sandbox platform supports student projects related to sustainability with funding and coaching. The Green Office offers events and educational programmes. Furthermore, the Braunschweig location is part of a broad network in non-university research, in particular in the areas of mobility, the environment, the city of the future, etc.
