Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The four degree courses in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Energy-Efficient Planning and Building, and Digital Builder represent the faculty's four lines of education. They are being expanded and supplemented by continuing education courses. With this unique feature, the faculty is the only construction faculty to fulfil the regional educational mandate.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Small groups with personal contact with the teachers; Guest lecturers from Germany and abroad; A broad and practice-oriented curriculum; Regular daily and weekly excursions; Student competitions

Special features regarding the international orientation

Offers of English-language courses and lectures, partly possible practical semester as a semester abroad, project work on foreign projects, participation in excursions; Some compulsory modules in English are an integral part of the programme. Many partner universities abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has well-equipped laboratories in the fields of Building Materials, Surveying, Foundation and Hydraulic Engineering and Measurement Engineering. Also available are a community water management laboratory, a CAX laboratory with 3D plotters and scanners, and a modelling workshop as well as a field laboratory and light laboratory with an artificial sky.

Special features regarding research and development

Sustainability and Digitalisation; Climate-neutral buildings and urban districts; Ecobalance; Sustainability certification; Energy metrology; Supervision and optimisation of new buildings from data exploration; Cyber-physical systems for renewable energies; Energy use planning; Photobioreactors in façades; Connecting elements in wood construction; Outdoor lysimeter system; Carbon concrete; Non-metallic reinforcement; "Green" concrete; Sustainable concrete; Wood-concrete composite; Research focuses in the field of community water management

Other special features

The "E2D" brand stands for the interaction of E for energy, E for efficiency and D for design, based on the 3 pillars of ecological, economic and social sustainability. In the Master's degree course E2D, the topics of the Bachelor's degree can be consecutively explored in greater depth, with an even broader range of specialisations. To competently and sustainably integrate the complex topics of sustainability and resource consumption in construction – this is the goal of the innovative degree course "Energy-Efficient Planning and Building – E2D".
