Special features regarding teaching

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Kempten University of Applied Sciences is very broadly positioned where energy-related topics are concerned. In addition to the part-time Master’s degree programme in ‘Energy Systems and the Energy Sector’, both an independent Bachelor´s degree course (‘Energy and Environmental Engineering’) and a consecutive Master’s programme in ‘Energy Engineering’ are offered. Therefore, in instruction – due in part to the industry experience of all the lecturers – attention is paid to strong practical relevance. Training using with state-of-the-art simulation methods is a special feature.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The university and faculty have extensive and long-standing contacts to numerous universities in Europe and worldwide. The university’s International Office helps interested students search for and organise stays abroad or international projects.

Special features regarding the equipment

The university offers an extensive range of specialist books and scientific databases. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering also operates a high-performance IT infrastructure with modern computer rooms as well as the option of remote access to high-performance specialist software.

Special features regarding research and development

Energy technology is a central research topic at Kempten University of Applied Sciences with the research focus "Energy Systems and Energy Technology", which is also shown on the HRK research map, as well as two affiliated institutes (IEAT - Institute of Energy and Drive Technology and IEET - Institute of Electrical Energy Technology). Energy research deals with technical and non-technical questions about energy systems and the associated core components – with a focus on interfaces to information and communication technology (ICT) and artificial intelligence.
