There are numerous international collaborations partner universities that encourage Engineering students to spend a period of time studying abroad. Every Chair maintains close contacts with several international research institutions through exchange of scientific knowledge and reciprocal research visits, for example at partner universities. Université de Montréal, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Graduate School of Engineering at Chiba University can be mentioned as examples here.

The extensive equipment for teaching, practical training and research is continuously being updated and extended. Cutting-edge research facilities with a state-of-the-art technical centre are offered by the building of the Technology Alliance Upper Franconia and the Bayreuth Battery Centre.

The Graduate School promotes and advises all doctoral students at the University of Bayreuth on their doctorate and offers numerous interdisciplinary workshops as part of the qualification programme. The aim is to promote an international, national and interdisciplinary network of all doctoral students and to create the best framework conditions for doctorates.

The faculty is a member of the faculty association for Mechanical and Process Engineering, the study association and the MatWerk faculty association as well as the work placement association; in recent years the high standards set by the relevant supervisory committees have been met.
