Special features regarding teaching

The FHM organises its programmes by trimesters. Thanks to the FHM competence model, the curricula are interdisciplinary, academically compact and application-oriented. Small study groups and study group supervisors enable individual support for each student. Close integration of theory and practice is achieved by practice projects integrated in the course, a close network with medium-sized companies and practical experience of the teaching staff.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The FHM is anchored in the region and, as the partner of a globally expanding SME, also internationally oriented. The aim is to support SMEs in the internationalisation process through qualifying and promoting young executives on the basis of international experience and international research projects. The FHM maintains 60 partnerships, particularly with Asian and British universities, and a German-Asian SME Institute (DAMI). The offers are particularly popular with international Masters students.

Special features regarding the equipment

There are several PC clusters with the latest hardware and software (including SPSS) available to students, which can be used in courses and practical projects; The entire university is equipped with WiFi The equipment in the seminar rooms is state of the art (projectors, whiteboards, etc.). The Media.Campus with news, TV, radio and photo studios is available to all students. In the field of Psychological Diagnostics, the FHM has a test library consisting of paper-pencil test methods and computer-based tests for different areas of application.

Support for founders

As a medium-sized university of applied sciences, the FHM cooperates closely with the start-up scene. The cooperation with the Founders Foundation should be emphasised here, which is evident both in cooperation in teaching and in the mutual support in the start-up of students. In addition, the School of Start-up and Succession was founded at the FHM. There, entrepreneurial thinking and acting are conveyed through methodical and personal support in founding a start-up.

Other special features

The FHM provides recognition models in professional education/continuing education for specific programmes, thus reducing study periods and tuition fees. The trimester structure makes for a compact study experience. The FHM organises the studies in small study groups and provides timetables, ensuring sufficient capacities for each module. Teachers recruited from industry allow for an optimal transfer of knowledge between the universities and companies.
