Special features regarding teaching

All programmes are interdisciplinary in nature. Professors come from numerous different disciplines and have extensive practical experience. Practice semesters, ideally also abroad, are encouraged and integrated into the curriculum. Apart from industry-specific characteristics of the programmes, the teaching of professional key skills is an integral part of the curriculum. Individual key areas can be chosen by way of elective modules. These modules in particular are taught by many lecturers recruited from companies of the industries in question.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Erasmus+ partnerships with up to four visiting lecturers per semester; Exchange with US partner universities in the summer school programme; Virtual summer school with consortium of partner universities; Summer schools with partner universities in the Caucasus; Excursions to countries in the EU; Events to promote internationalisation (e.g. "International Week" and "Managing Cultural Diversity"); Blended Intensive Programmes; International issues through social media marketing; English language certificate of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences as an additional qualification.; Individual support for incoming and outgoing students through the Languages/International area.

Special features regarding the equipment

Various subject-specific online databases, eJournals and numerous eBooks are available free of charge. The library provides 16 PC stations for literature research. A free book scanner is also available for use. In 5 computer pools, 134 PC workstations are equipped with printers, scanners, etc. Students have free access to the campus WiFi. The department has a logistics and a video laboratory as well as two language laboratories. Numerous special programmes (e.g. SAP, SPSS, simulation programmes) are integrated into teaching.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty focuses on interdisciplinary research topics. The main aspects are the research focus areas Social Policy, Innovation Research and Sports/Sports Management and Sports Economics. There is an institute anchored within the faculty.

Support for founders

Start-ups are promoted explicitly through Entrepreneurship Consulting. The university has also launched an ideas competition.

Other special features

The Equality Officer of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences as well as the staff in the field of equality and diversity act as points of contact for university members and students in the event of discrimination on grounds of gender as well as sexual harassment. One focal point of the work of the Office for Equality and Diversity is supporting single-parent students.
