Special features regarding teaching

In addition to preparatory and supplementary courses in mathematics and physics, we offer intensive assistance throughout your degree programme, with tutorials and personal support. Practical relevance and application-based research are key aspects. As part of internships, projects and thesis, you will learn to solve interesting, challenging questions from practice and make initial contacts with the career world. Our networks, in-house trade fairs and contacts and cooperations abroad also facilitate the transition to working life.

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are student exchange programmes and activities with several international universities, for example with I.U.T. Lille, France, or with NAIST and NARA in Japan. At NUST/Namibia and Colorado State, too, our students work on projects such as solar taxis, etc. Joint virtual courses are offered with Novosibirsk State Technical University in Russia (and were already in place before the coronavirus pandemic).

Special features regarding the equipment

More than 50 laboratories with a wide range of equipment are available at the department. In the field of environmental engineering, particular emphasis should be placed on the laboratories for: Ecotoxicology, chemistry and environmental analysis, environmental information systems, process engineering

Special features regarding research and development

The department focuses its research activities on four topics: Sustainable mobility and energy, key technologies, environmental and medical engineering, media technologies. In the school's profile-forming focus ‘Engineering 4.0’, research activities in the fields of drive, energy, sensor and communications technology are interdisciplinary with the key technologies of microsystems and nanotechnology. Young academics play an important role in the field of engineering.

Other special features

The RhineMain University of Applied Sciences represents excellent, up-to-date academic instruction with a high level of practical relevance. This topicality concerns not just technical content teaching methods as well. The course promotes analytical skills, enabling students to engage in critical discourse and assume social responsibility. Students, staff and instructors work together in a spirit of fairness to achieve these goals.
