Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Lectures: Subject-specific content through theoretical & practical methods. Dialogue between lecturers and students is maintained due to the small number of students. Projector presentations, boards, flipcharts, DTEN board, 3D models. Accompanying scripts for the lectures and for independent study. Exercises: In particular, computational & graphical solutions. Internships: The handling of preparatory machines/systems; Metrological & analytical skills. Tutorials in mathematics & physics by other students. Independent study: Scripts, OLAT tutorials & library literature

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Due to the cooperative degree programme with the University of Koblenz, students experience a higher proportion of lectures with more theoretical content.

Special features regarding the equipment

All common methods for particle and particle size characterisation. All common shaping processes for ceramic materials except hot isostatic pressing. Furnaces up to 2000°C. Analytical methods: SEM with field emitter/EDX, light microscopy, Raman spectroscopy up to 1550°C in situ and with spatial resolution, X-ray diffractometry, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, ETV ICP OES and physical test methods such as pore size distribution and strengths.

Special features regarding research and development

Setting, hardening and drying behaviour of refractory concrete Contour crafting of refractory concretes. Effects of recycled raw materials on the performance of refractory products. Corrosion resistance of refractory products to various media (gas, liquid). Erosion resistance of wear-protection ceramics. Development of innovative polymer-ceramic slurries for additive manufacturing processes. Sustainable strategies and solutions for lithium supply in the glass and ceramic industry.

Other special features

Services of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences – Diversity Office and Sustainability Officer within the university
