Special features regarding teaching

Good balance of sound theory and practice; Compulsory company work placement included in the Bachelor's degree of ten weeks, supervised and quality-controlled; More than 38 partner companies; Internal practicals/projects, constant feedback; already considerable freedom of choice in the Bachelor's degree course (no "school-oriented" studies); Large freedom of choice in the Master's programme; Small groups, good staff-student ratio; Direct contact with teaching staff and professors, e.g. with individual course guidance.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The faculty has introduced a programme with the international Master’s option “Data Analytics”. It is held entirely in English and is aimed primarily at international students worldwide. In Business Information Systems (MSc), students can take courses on Business Intelligence, Big Data, AI, etc. in combination with “Data Analytics” in the specialisation and elective area. This alone allows a large part of the course to be studied with an international focus. Further courses may be offered in English if necessary.

Special features regarding the equipment

Excellent centralised and decentralised infrastructure (fibre optic network, campus-wide WiFi, GroupWare), IT teaching (LearnWeb, forums), 181 computer workstations available for students (Windows or Windows/Unix). Computer clusters can be used at any time, 24h a day; multimedia rooms, video conference rooms, media centre in the main library; Media lab, especially for the use of mobile computers, innovation lab for prototyping, collaboration with SAP Centre of Excellence.

Special features regarding research activities

Demand-oriented coordination of hybrid value-added networks, designing sustainable business processes, linking company modelling and sustainability, process management for product service systems, development of research portals, methods for project planning and control, integrated implementation of production and logistics planning, tour and location planning, application of heuristic processes and simulation, start-up and company research.

Support for founders

Start-up Week (in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week); Option for additional certificate “Company Organisation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”; Specific relevant courses are already integrated into the WI programmes "Design Thinking” practical, “Corporate Decision-Making and Entrepreneurship”, “Corporate Simulation”, “Company Management”, specialisation option “Service Management and Innovation” Separate innovation lab for prototyping and separate internet portal for Design Thinking; Additional events e.g. Hackathons with companies and innovation incubators.

With more than 38 partner companies, there is an extensive exchange between industry and academia - for teaching and research; student projects/practical placements and much of the Bachelor's and Master's work is carried out in cooperation with industry; Faculty-wide strong involvement of female students: Regular feedback sessions and discussions; Opportunity for study periods abroad, within Europe (ERASMUS programme) and beyond; Special campus features: family-friendly university, extra-curricular studies, foundation university with several sponsorship programmes (including the "Germany Grant).
