Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

In the practice-integrated course, students are employed throughout the duration of studies by a company. As a result, they grow into the company from the start and can combine academic training with professional practice. The goal is to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in practice and vice versa. The degree course offers a variety of options (subject areas, elective modules). The company portal gives an overview of the cooperating companies and free practice places: https://www.hsbi.de/unternehmensportal/minden

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

With the Master's degree programme "Integrated Technology and System Development" (ITSE, full-time/part-time), we offer a forward-looking Master's degree. The aim is the interdisciplinary analysis, modelling and further development of modern industrial technologies, systems and processes. The focus is on the development of intelligent products as well as the design and organisation of the flexible manufacturing and operating processes required for this. The Master's degree programme opens up attractive opportunities for graduates to pursue a PhD and a research-oriented career.

Special features regarding the international orientation

At the Minden Campus, there are regular informational events for students about "Work placements and studies abroad" by the Foreign Students Office. The International Office in Bielefeld is open to all students for guidance on short visits, work placements and foreign programmes. Information is provided online: https://www.hsbi.de/internationales/pi-studium. Furthermore, a number of practice-integrated companies offer periods abroad during the practical phases. In individual modules there are lectures by international experts and the presentation of networks.

Special features regarding the equipment

In the new building, the Minden campus has modern laboratory workstations with measuring equipment for development engineers. So that students can build circuits and circuit boards themselves, a complete system with circuit board cutter, assembler and soldering device is available. In addition, there is a modern EMC laboratory with absorber chamber and metrology equipment for measuring and analysing electromagnetic compatibility up to the GHz range for teaching and research. The library has an extensive range of databases on standards and scientific articles.

Special features regarding research and development

The Minden campus is mainly involved in application-oriented research and development. The research work is generally carried out with partners such as companies, associations or public institutions. The aim is to generate research results that support the innovation activities of the partners and that can be transferred to application in the short term. Research focuses on smart systems (in buildings) and electromagnetic compatibility. Research in the field of EMC also feeds into international standardisation.

Other special features

The practice-integrated courses are designed for small groups, thereby guaranteeing an excellent teacher-student ratio. Our students value the small size of the green campus, the personal atmosphere and the individual guidance offered by professors, assistant professors and staff. We are always available for personal and technical questions. The Campus Minden department offers excellently equipped laboratories and modern, well-equipped rooms with modern IT in a fully renovated historical artillery barracks.
