Wide range of attractive elective modules on current topics, i.e. opportunity for specialisation. Possibility for students - especially in higher semesters of the Ba. and Master's degree programmes - to work on research projects. Practical projects in the course of study and for interdisciplinary cooperation (e.g. solar boat, hyperloop, counter-wind vehicle). Student Projects/participation in practical workshops in the FabLab.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Many fields of work are open to graduates of the Master's degree programme in Technology of Circular Economy, including: Development and manufacture of recyclable products; Evaluation, optimisation and monitoring of sustainable processes; quality assurance and management; Waste prevention as well as analysis, evaluation/recycling of products; Soil protection, water conservation and other areas of environmental protection; Evaluation/optimisation of environmental protection processes; Waste prevention + circular economy; also roles/managerial roles as development/. production engineers + consultant roles

Special features regarding the international orientation

Ba BT and NPT: Opportunity for an international double degree with the Technical University of the Shannon (Ireland) in Toxicology; in BaEEEE with University of Turku (FIN) Energy & Environm. Eng. Possible, after examination by the examination board, to study a semester abroad or a practical phase at one of the cooperative international universities (73), an institute or in companies. Chinese fellow students in a fixed exchange programme. Exchange with international students in (interdisciplinary) (research) projects & international competitions. Offers from the International Office, such as international evenings.

Special features regarding the equipment

High-quality, state-of-the-art laboratories that meet current standards in industry and research. Direct Can used by students (not "exhibition labs"). Comprehensive specialist microscope equipment, modern laboratories: e.g. instr. Analytics, biotechnology, computer science, microbiology (safety level 2), food, environmental technology, process analytics, polymer chemistry, renewable raw materials, bioprocess and cell culture technology, wind power. Interdisciplinary work in the new Life Sciences technical centre and FabLab.

Special features regarding research and development

Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences (HSEL) sees itself as a driving force. General research focuses: Sustainable technologies; Resource orientation > Individual/society; Industrial computer science & automation systems. Current research projects: Technical use of microorganisms in environmental microbiology and antibiotic resistance; Bioprocess & cell culture technology, chemistry of renewable raw materials & polymer chemistry; Surfaces, imaging techniques, catalysis, reaction kinetics; Method development for determining indoor air pollution; Resource efficiency Wastewater technologies; Optimisation of renewable energy systems

Other special features

Very good student-teacher ratio. Attractive campus university with short distances (also in information) and modern infrastructure incl. modern library. Due to the activities of their specific degree programmes, students have a strong sense of belonging to a group. Interdisciplinary student projects such as a solar boat, hyperloop, headwind vehicle and beer brewing offer a practical transfer of knowledge, teamwork and participation in fun competitions. Also in the Engineering Department: FabLab + Repair Café. A comprehensive university sports programme + sponsored activities for an attractive student lifestyle contribute to student satisfaction.
